The lists archived at:

http://lists.calorierestriction.org/pipermail/crcomm_lists.calorierestriction.org/

... where never intended to be permanent, or to remain public. In
fact, EMWB provided a private archiving option that I never set up,
because there would have been no (simple) way to search it -- and
people use these archives both for searching and for actually reading
the list.

Now that Jeff's searchable archives are up, however, these above can
(and should, IMHO) be taken down, and Jeff's solution provided as the
only archive option. With suitable access control (i.e., no access by
public search engines), the problem of individuals who violate list
rules by posting copyrighted material will be less likely to become a
significant issue for the organization.

Furthermore, honoring take down requests would be much easier with
Jeff's archives, which (I assume) would not require involvement of a
third party like EMWB to accomplish.
